Judas

Based on the novel by Amos Oz

Judas is set in Jerusalem in the winter of 1959. Shmuel Ash, a sensitive student who has dropped out of university, takes a live-in job as companion to an elderly, incapacitated man, Gershom Wald, who needs someone with whom to argue. The two grapple
about the betrayal of Judas, the subject of Shmuel's thesis. Wald believes the myth of Judas as described in the New Testament is the reason for anti-Semitism, pogroms, the Inquisition and even the Holocaust. Things get complicated when Shmuel falls in love with Wald's daughter-in-law Atalia.
