Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World
With thrilling dexterity and acerbic wit, finds a way to mock...the many systems and forces conspiring to crush us all.
Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World
From Golden Bear winner Radu Jude, DO NOT EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM THE END OF THE WORLD takes a fierce and darkly comic swipe at modern day life. Overworked and underpaid production assistant Angela (Ilinca Manolache) is assigned to film a workplace safety video for a multinational corporation in Bucharest. When one of the interviewees makes a statement that ignites a scandal, Angela has to re-invent the story. Featuring appearances from Nina Hoss, Uwe Boll, and Angela’s TikTok alter-ego Bobiță, Jude’s anarchic satire is a wild and unforgettable ride through the vulgar indignities of the 21st century.
Romanian enfant terrible Radu Jude follows his Berlin-winning film BAD LUCK BANGING OR LOONY PORN with a film that tones down the explicitness without sacrificing any of the formal or substantive audaciousness that he's become celebrated for. In what's perhaps his most accessible film since AFERIM!, Jude crafts a hilarious story of an overworked and underpaid corporate grunt whom we can all see ourselves in. Currently at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, this uproarious film is unlike anything you've ever seen before.
"With thrilling dexterity and acerbic wit, finds a way to mock crass commercialism, cultural misogyny, corporate greed, worker exploitation, bigotry, social media hate, and the many systems and forces conspiring to crush us all." ~ Nick Schager, The Daily Beast
