As well as showcasing its contemporary face, The Royal Ballet draws on its rich cultural heritage in the 2019/20 Season. Repertory classic Coppélia and The Sleeping Beauty will delight audiences, as will Liam Scarlett’s critically acclaimed Swan Lake, which premiered last season. In addition to the live program, new for 2019/20, cinema audiences can see a recorded showing of The Royal Ballet’s 2016 festive favorite, The Nutcracker in December 2019.

Leading operatic talent will once again feature on the cinema stage in three new opera productions – Bryn Terfel and Olga Peretyatko in Donizetti’s
Don Pasquale, Jonas Kaufmann and Lisa Davidsen in Beethoven’s Fidelio, conducted by Antonio Pappano, and Nina Stemme and Karita Mattila in Richard Strauss’ Elektra. This will be complimented by the return of much-loved revivals. The cinema season opens with Mozart’s Don Giovanni with Erwin Schrott in the title role, followed by Puccini’s La bohème with Sonya Yoncheva and Charles Castonovo. Later on Mascagni’s Olivier Award-winning Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci will be screened featuring Roberto Alagna and Aleksandra Kurzak.
