A timid clerk rents an apartment whose previous inhabitant had attempted suicide in this unique horror film. The fine photography by Sven Nykvist captures the bizarre cast which includes Isabelle Adjani, Melvyn Douglas, Shelley Winters, Lila Kedrova and director Polanski himself.
