Kurmanjan Datka Queen of the Mountains, the historic epic about a strong willed and courageous woman who sacrificed everything to save her nation from total destruction when the Russian imperial forces conquered the Central Asian country in the 1870s.

The most expensive film ever made in Kyrgyzstan, the movie is filled with passion, intrigue, bloody battle scenes, spectacular landscapes and lavish costumes.

The film, produced by Kyrgyz Film and Aitysh Film, is backed by Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev and Minister of Culture, Sultan Raev.

This film was shot on digital Red Epic film on location in various parts of the beautiful country of Kyrgyzstan and as a very rare occasion, they were able to shut down St. Petersburg’s Square in front of the Winter Palace in Russia for filming. Over 10,000 people were involved in production in front of and behind the camera.
