Wolf Children
Love Wildly
Experience the latest masterpiece from the internationally-acclaimed, award-winning director of Summer Wars.
Hana was a student before she was a mother. She was bright and pretty, and her future held endless possibilities. Then she met a man, who turned out to be a wolf, and together they built a family. Hana loved her mate fiercely, but fate took him from her, leaving her alone with two unusual kids she didn’t know how to raise. Frightened of being discovered, Hana and her wolf children fled to the countryside to build a new life. Raising her little wild things was an adventure. It left Hana bruised, scratched, exhausted, and joyously overwhelmed as her pups grew stronger and wandered further every day. This is a mother’s journey. Teach your children to chase their dreams – and smile through the tears as they disappear into the world in search of who they will become. Hana wasn’t always a mother, but it was always what she was meant to be.
Director: Mamoru Hosoda
Masterful animator and director Mamoru Hosoda has been called “the preeminent director of theatrical animation in Japan today, the obvious spiritual heir to Hayao Miyazaki.” (Brain Camp, Otaku USA Magazine) This is high praise indeed, but Hosoda’s stellar body of work certainly merits any and all plaudits. Trained as an oil painter at Kanazawa University of Arts and Crafts, Hosoda honed his considerable skills working at famed anime production houses such as Toei and Studio Ghibli, as well as a celebrated collaboration on the Louis Vuitton exclusive, Superflat Monogram, with the prolific contemporary artist, Takashi Murakami. His directorial credits include Summer Wars (2006) and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2009), both of which received the Japan Academy Prize for Best Animation of the Year.
By request of the distributor, Laemmle Theatres will be screening the dubbed version of WOLF CHILDREN.

Cast
Hana (Japanese: Aoi Miyazaki / English: Colleen Clinkenbeard)
Hana is a kindhearted and compassionate college student whose life changes drastically the day she meets a handsome and mysterious stranger in one of her classes. She finds herself drawn to the man, who eventually trusts her enough to reveal his most guarded secret: he is a wolf man. Despite the differences between them, Hana and the man embark on a whirlwind romance that produces two beautiful wolf children. Hana proves to be a strong, courageous, nurturing mother willing to do anything it takes to build a better life for her children.
Wolf Man (Japanese: Takao Osawa / English: David Matranga)
This inquisitive loner drives a truck for a living, but he also enjoys sneaking into lectures at the local university. It is there he meets Hana, the woman who quickly becomes his everything. Descended from the now extinct Japanese wolf, he represents the very last of his kind. Wild, courageous and caring, he is fiercely protective of his beloved Hana – and the wolf cubs he fathers with her.
Yuki
Younger (Japanese: Momoka Ono / English: Lara Woodhull)
Older (Japanese: Haru Kuroki / English: Jād Saxton)
Yuki – the oldest of Hana’s children – was named for the snowy conditions under which she was born. She is an adventurous youngster who loves to explore her surroundings. She has an energetic nature and talent for making messes – characteristics of her wolf side – that often make life difficult for her poor mother. Yuki has the fearless spirit of a wolf, and she feels more at home in the wild than any human dwelling.
Ame
Younger (Japanese: Amon Kabe / English: Alison Viktorin)
Older (Japanese: Yukito Nishii / English: Micah Solusod)
Timid Ame – named after the rainy day on which he was born – is the exact opposite of his big sister. He is a timid boy who worries his mother by crying himself to sleep every night. He shows little interest in exploring his wolf heritage, refusing to stray too far from the safety of Hana. Gentle and thoughtful, Ame feels more at home in the human world than in the wild.
